FAQ

What happens if my pet goes missing?

If your pet is registered with us, and your details are up to date, that's half the battle. Simply report them missing through your account and our lost pet service kicks in at no cost. We work with DogLost, the UK's most effective pet reunification platform, so their network of local volunteers works alongside pet wardens, vets and rescues to get your pet home. We will send Safety Pings whenever the chip is searched for, and we will share the report across social media.

What is a Safety Ping?

A Safety Ping is an automatic notification sent to you the moment someone searches for your pet's microchip details. You will also be told when a pet professional logs in to access your contact information. It means you can see when your pet's chip has been looked up, so if you ever do become separated, you know straight away that someone has found them.

I'm registered with another database. Is switching a hassle?

No hassle - you don't even need to contact your old database yourself. Fill in a few details about your pet and we will get in touch with them, let them know you have registered with us, and check there are no anomalies on the account. They will be asked to archive your details and may contact you to confirm. Your data stays safe and secure with us as a Defra compliant database, and the whole thing takes about a minute.

My pet is already microchipped, so why do I need this?

Being microchipped is only half the job. The chip holds a 15 digit number, and what actually gets your pet home is the contact details attached to that number registered on a compliant database. If you have moved house or changed your phone number since your pet was chipped and registered, a vet or warden scanning them has no way to reach you. Keeping those details current is also a legal requirement, and failing to do so can mean a fine of up to £500.
