How do QR codes work?

QR codes are a way of storing information e.g. a website address. Anyone with a smartphone can scan the code using their camera, and it will take them to that address to access the information. Our Smart Pet Tags have QR codes that link to your pet’s information on Pet Database.

Are these tags legal?

QR codes are widely used now and over 83% of the population have smartphones. They are a quick, practical and sustainable alternative to engraving tags as you can simply update your details when they change rather than buying a new tag every time.

Do I have to sign up to Pet Database if I purchase these tags?

Pet Database is a Defra-compliant database, so it ensures that any changes you make to your pet’s microchip details are automatically updated on the tag. This also means that if your pet is lost - your Smart Pet Tag and microchip information is with the same database making it much easier to reunite you with your pet.

What can I do if my tag breaks?

The Smart Pet Tags are made of the highest quality epoxy resin, which is incredibly durable and waterproof as well as being lightweight. If you have any concerns or issues of quality, just contact us and we can assist you.

What happens when someone scans my Smart Pet Tag?

When you’ve first received your Smart Pet Tag, you will need to claim it and attach it to one of your pets on Pet Database.com. If your pet goes missing and a finder scans your tag, they will see your contact information (plus other information you may wish to provide).

We’ll also notify you by text message to let you know someone has accessed your profile.
