Absolutely, the sooner you sign up and switch to PetDatabase.com, the sooner you can receive Safety Pings - updates if and when your pet's microchip details are searched-for or entered into any compliant database.
All dogs and the majority of cats, are microchipped. Normally you would get this info from your breeder, rescue or at your first vet appointment, but don't worry if you can't find it, you can go to your local vet who will be able to scan your chip to tell you the 15 digit number. Once you have your number you can find out what database you are registered with.
You can still sign up to Pet Database without having your microchip number to hand - we will guide you through the process of doing this.
Don't panic, you can still sign up to PetDatabase.com. It may be that your pet is not on a Defra compliant register and so it does not show up when you use a chip checker. There are a few of these scam sites that charge owners money to register but are not official databases, the most common is UK Pet Registry / Allpaws.com.
Absolutely, cats are as precious as dogs and so the DogLost team of volunteers work to reunite any missing or stolen cats with their owners as well. Just fill out a lost pet profile, in the breed section mark 'unknown' and just add the word 'cat' to your pet's name, so the volunteer team knows what species it is.
